about
In 100 years someone will be looking for you... Leave them a message
Think about what you'd say to someone in 100 years. Put
yourself in the position of someone 100 years ago, leaving a message for
us today. It's not as simple as it might initially appear.
100 years from now, the context will be different. The
people will be different. There won't be anyone who knew us personally to
fill in the blanks. Time steals context.
Leave a message and make someone 100 years from now very happy.
background
Why this project came about
Sean MacGuire was
researching his great grandfather
Thomas E Murray, an inventor and pioneer of
the electrical system in the early 20th century.
"I pulled all 462 of his patents, I knew what he did, and how
he did it, but was missing a basic idea of who he really was. I wished I had
a letter or something personal to fill in the blanks."
This project
solves that problem in a simple, elegant way.
services
Selection & Collection
The first step is selecting people who are likely to be
researched in 100 years. They compose their message, record their video,
and upload it to the in100 site.
Archiving & Delivery
The video messages are indexed, and stored in multiple
locations to facilitate retreival. The effect when played in 100 years
will cement your reputation for being prescient.
Propagation
Participants will each receive 4 invitation codes which
may be given to those they believe will have people looking for them in
100 years.
